Abercorn Court event helps Children to Lapland Trust

The event, which also featured a tumbola, a cake stall and a raffle, was well supported by tenants’ friends and relatives and by people living at other older people’s housing schemes in the area. £670 was raised for The Trust which will be used to take a terminally ill child on the trip of their dreams to meet Santa Claus in Lapland.

Fiona Milnes, Scheme Co-ordinator at Abercorn Court said: “We had a lovely morning - it’s a wonderful way to get together with friends and neighbours and fundraise at the same time. Clanmil believes in promoting active ageing for tenants at our independent living housing schemes and events like this help them stay busy and involved as well as raising money for a very worthwhile cause. The money we raised, will help bring a little happiness to the life of a terminally ill child with an unforgettable trip.”

Abercorn Court is a housing scheme for people over 60 which provides tenants with the support they need to stay in a home of their own as they grow older, offering independence, companionship, an active lifestyle and security in a mix of self-contained flats and bungalows.

Local businesses that supported the raffle were Hillcrest Euro Spar and Borland’s Spar in Portrush, Me & Mrs Jones restaurant in Portstewart and McDonalds, Zara Hairdressers and Hendersons in Coleraine.
