Accused of GBH

A 49-year-old Londonderry man has appeared in court charged with causing grievous bodily harm to his long term partner.

Charles Martin Brendan MacEleney, of Great James Street in the city, faces one charge in relation to an alleged incident on August 18th, last.

An investigating PSNI officer told the city’s Magistrate’s Court this week that he believed he could connect the 49-year-old accused to the charges.

Defence solicitor Mr Paddy MacDermott said the alleged injured party is MacEleney's long term partner and that the couple are still together.

MacEleney was released on bail to appear again on November 8.
