Area Commander thanks public for ‘drugs help’

MAGHERAFELT’s Area Commander Sam Donaldson has praised the public for their help following last weekend’s major drugs seizure.

Chief Inspector Sam Donaldson said: “I would like to thank the public for their help in recent months. As a result of information received we have made a number of significant drugs seizures.

“I would ask you to continue assisting police and if you notice any suspicious activity or suspect someone may be engaged in drug offences, please report it to police immediately.

The drugs seized in the Highfield area of Magherafelt on Saturday were worth an estimated £45,000.

A quantity of herbal cannabis, suspected cocaine, suspected mephadrone and a large sum of cash were seized following a search of a house in the Mullaghaboy Heights area. The drugs have been sent for forensic examination.

Two men arrested have been released on bail pending further enquiries. A juvenille also arrested has also been released on bail.
