Ryan Martin James Creaney, Milltown Lane, Portadown, appeared last week at Craigavon Magistrates Court. At a previous hearing he admitted common assault and making a threat to kill on July 12 last year. The case was adjourned for a pre-sentence report.

The court heard that police were called to a domestic incident at Maghery. Creaney was intoxicated and unfit to be interviewed at the time.

A barrister representing the defendant said he had been watching a boxing fight at five in the morning and went on to drinking in bars. He added that foolishly he went to see his estranged partner and things escalated. Creaney had expressed regret and this was a one off incident.

The barrister explained there was now a good working relationship between Creaney and his ex-partner as far as family matters were concerned. He was ashamed of what happened.

District Judge, Mr Mervyn Bates imposed a 200 hours community service order.
