Author visits Barbour Nursery School

Children from Barbour Nursery School had a visit this week from Petr Horacek, the children’s author.

The visit was planned as part of the Arts Council NI Stories Tour and was undertaken in association with Bookstart Treasure Packs.

The author shared his love of drawing animal pictures and read several of his stories to pupils and parents. The Principal, Tracey Cassells commented: “We feel very privileged to have welcomed Petr to our school along with representatives from the Department of Education.

“Through Petr’s drawings and story telling he really made his books come alive. The children were totally engrossed”.

“The Treasure Packs are a wonderful resource for children of this age group. Parents are encouraged to set aside time in a busy day to explore the bags with their child, and then the family will hopefully be prompted to join their local library”.

The children at Barbour Nursery School were also excited to meet the Bookstart Bear who came along and handed out the Treasure bags to the children.
