Black and gold ball raises money for cancer charity

STAFF from the Greater Lisburn child protection and safeguarding services recently organised a ‘Black and Gold’ ball to raise money for the Ulster Cancer Foundation.

The organisers, including Hilary Niblock, who lives in Lisburn, wrote a personal letter to the Health Minister, Lagan Valley MLA Edwin Poots, telling him how they had all been touched by cancer and inviting him to the event, which was held recently at the Ramada Hotel.

All are social work staff from the Gateway Child Protection team in the South Eastern Trust and the gala ball raised a fantastic £8,500 for the Ulster Cancer Foundation’s work with children, young people and families.

Colleagues from the Greater Lisburn child health teams supported the evening, as did social work staff from all over Northern Ireland.
