Portadown retailer, The Bottom Drawer, is the only Northern Ireland business on the shortlist of UK wide retail awards.

The owners of the independent retailer, based at Magowan West, are celebrating after being included on the shortlist to win the sought-after title of ‘UK Gift Retailer of the Year 2015’ in the North England/Northern Ireland category of the Greats Retail Awards 2015.

The award winners will be announced at a gala event at London’s Savoy Hotel on May 7.

Founded, owned and operated by sisters Frances and Rhonda Jardine in 2007, The Bottom Drawer has filled a successful niche on Portadown’s growing retail scene, providing locals and visitors alike with a lifestyle store full of exclusive gifts, fashion, jewellery, furniture and a wide selection of interior design products.

Co-owner Francis is delighted with the news.

She said, “We are absolutely thrilled to be shortlisted for this top award and to be part of a ceremony which will, essentially, represent the ‘Oscars’ of the independent gift retailing world in the UK.

“The Greats Retail Awards 2015 are the ultimate accolade for those in our industry, so it is a real thrill to be recognised and chosen as a nominee for one of the main categories.

“Customer satisfaction is what drives us every day, and we are so thankful for all the support we have received from across the country and beyond, over the past eight years.

“Portadown really is a great place to do business as a retailer and we’re delighted by the growth we’ve achieved; we look forward to many more years of retail success.”

The product line continues to grow and the store’s popularity among shoppers proves distance is no deterrent for that perfect purchase, with many loyal customers travelling to Portadown from all corners of the country.
