Boy grabbed by man in Coleraine attack

Police are asking for assistance from the public after an incident involving two young people in Railway Road, at around 9:20pm on Thursday 02 July.

Two boys were approached by a man in his twenties who asked them for money.

During the approach, the man grabbed one of the boys around the leg, and attempted to go through his pockets.

He eventually walked away without money, and the boys reported to matter at the nearby Leisure Centre.

Con Cowan of Causeway Coast and Glens police said: “Police would like to speak with the adult involved in this incident.

“He is described as aged around 25-30 years, with blond hair and of slim build.

“He was wearing tracksuit bottoms and a t-shirt at the time. He was carrying a Lidl plastic bag with a large bottle of cider inside when the approached the boys.

“If you saw this man on the evening of Thursday 02 July or can assist our enquiries in any way, please contact Coleraine police on the non-emergency number 101.”
