Braid to be ‘painted pink’
In support of Action Cancer’s campaign, ‘Paint The Town Pink’ to raise awareness of the importance of screening by encouraging pink-themed events throughout October, the local authority will light up their facilities at Smiley Buildings in Larne, at The Braid in Ballymena, and Carrickfergus Civic Centre and, with the support of Northern Ireland Environment Agency (NIEA), even the historic Carrickfergus Castle will take on a pink hue.
Mayor, Cllr Billy Ashe said: “Action Cancer’s support groups have been busy placing ‘Paint the Town Pink’ boxes asking local businesses to raise the cost of a single breast screening – £80 - and we are happy to support these efforts both with a small contribution and in illuminating the various buildings across Mid and East Antrim”.
