Multi-channel retailer Screwfix is to officially open its new Lurgan store on Thursday, June 5 at Millenium Way.

The new branch, Screwfix’s sixth store to open in Northern Ireland, will create an additional 14 jobs for the town and is part of the company’s ongoing expansion plans.

Screwfix’s new Lurgan store manager Jacqui Wilson is proud of the contribution the new store has made to unemployment figures in the region. “We’ve created 14 positions which have been filled by people from the local area. Everyone here is really looking forward to the store opening.”

Tradesmen and DIYers are invited to attend the Lurgan Screwfix opening at Millennium Way, where they can also demonstrate their professional skills in a free-to-enter screw drilling competition. The fastest contestant wins a 40in Toshiba flat screen TV.

Throughout the store’s launch celebration period from June 5-8 all product ranges will carry a 10% discount on the customer’s first order from any of the Screwfix Northern Ireland stores.

Ms Wilson believes that the store’s convenient location and the ability to provide a “click and collect” service within just five minutes of ordering will be a real bonus to local tradesmen.

“My team and I have already been getting to know local businesses and tradesmen and we’ve been very pleased with how supportive everybody has been. At Screwfix we pride ourselves on meeting the needs of today’s busy tradesmen with a speedy, reliable and convenient service. We are looking forward to welcoming the local tradesmen in the area to our new store. With over 11,000 products we have a lot to offer.”
