Two new businesses are to open at Wright’s Spar, Derrykeevan, in a further expansion by the Dungannon Road company.

A new unit has been built to house a coffee shop, Ellie-Mo’s, which is due to open for business next Tuesday.

Building work is also under way to extend the current premises by more than 2,200 square feet to accommodate award-winning butchers, M&W Farm Meats, as well as office and storage space.

The new coffee shop is owned by Robert Odgers, who provides the catering services at Brownlow House in Lurgan. Ellie-Mo’s will serve lunches, hot food, tea, coffee and a range of traybakes and scones.

Owner Andrew Wright said customer feedback had indicated that a coffee shop would be a welcome addition on the site. “There is nothing similar in the area, even at Peatlands Park,” he said.

The coffee shop will complement the other food businesses on the site - a Chinese restaurant and a fish and chip shop. There is also a hairdresser’s and an off-licence.

M&W Farm Meats will be based in the extended Spar unit. The expansion is currently under construction and set to be finished by next spring.

The butcher’s, owned by Clayton Moore, has been running successfully at Scotch Street since 2006 and also has a branch in Moygashel.

Welcomed Robert Odgers of Ellie-Mo’s and Clayton Moore of M&W to Wright’s SPAR recently to finalise plans for the opening of the businesses, Mr Wright said, “We are delighted to be expanding our current offering by welcoming two successful local businesses to Wright’s SPAR.

“We are confident that a café serving home-cooked fare will be invaluable to the local community and there is great anticipation from many of our customers who are looking forward to Ellie-Mo’s opening.

“The addition of a 12-foot butchery counter selling fresh and cooked meats from M&W Farm meats will also be welcomed by our customers, many of whom already enjoy by the locally-raised beef and extensive range of other products that Clayton and his team supply.

“This investment is the next step in providing the best possible range of services to our local community and we are looking forward to seeing these new businesses thrive at Wright’s SPAR.”
