When he was arrested by police cannabis was found in the sock of a 21-year-old man, Banbridge Magistrates Court heard last Thursday.
Colin Brady, Churchview Close, Lawrencetown, admitted unlawful possession of cannabis on may 14 this year.
He was sentenced to one month in prison, suspended for 12 months.
The court heard that the defendant was arrested on May 14 and when searched a small quantity of cannabis was found in his right sock.
He said that it was for his own use.
A barrister representing the defendant said this was his client’s third conviction for a drugs offence.
He added that Brady had stopped using cannabis and had a job interview.
Deputy District Judge Laura Ievers said Brady had a chance to get into the workplace and would be an incentive to stay out of trouble.
