Centenary dinner for Larne Black Chapter No 4

LARNE Royal Black District Chapter No 4 held a celebratory dinner to mark the centenary of the re-issue of warrant under which district chapter meetings are held.

The event, which took place at the Highways Hotel on Friday, May 14, was attended by special guest Millar Farr, Sovereign Grand Master. Also in attendance were Stanley Bamford, Grand Master of Co Antrim, and Rev Thomas Greer, Grand Chaplain of Co Antrim, who along with their wives enjoed the hospitality of Robert Clark, District Master of Larne, district officers and Sir Knights of Larne. Piper Alistair McIllroy led the chief guests and district officers to their places.

After the meal, the guests replied to various toasts and SIr Knight Harry Carter, District Lay Chaplain, replied by giving a talk on Larne District history. The evening concluded with entertainment by Ivan Stuart.

On Sunday, May 16, a centenary service was held in First Larne Presbyterian Church, led by Rev Dr Colin McClure. Sheelagh Greer led the praise along with guest preacher Rev Thomas Greer. The Sir Knights were led to and from the church by Larne Harbour Accordion and Carnalbanagh Flute Band.
