City Mission says fond farewell to US visitors

Belfast City Mission (BCM) in Rathcoole said farewell to the Teen Missions International team after the Sunday evening service on August 2.

The group of 16 young people and three leaders from all parts of the USA spent a week at the local mission hall taking CONNECT 2015 - a summer programme aimed at engaging with children and young people.

The Teen Missions International team worked with children from 3pm to 5pm each day and ran activities for teenagers in the evenings, from 7pm to 9pm.

The CONNECT 2015 programme involved Bible stories, choruses, Bible memory verses, challenges and craft activities. The evenings consisted of challenges, refreshments, singing and young people sharing about the love of Jesus.

A spokesman for BCM said the week-long event had been a great success and thanked the Teen Missions International team for their efforts.

“Each afternoon there were around 70 children in attendance, while in the evenings around 25 to 30 teenagers came along,” he said.

On Wednesday, July 29 the US visitors enjoyed a tour of Mossley Mill courtesy of Mayor Thomas Hogg and Macedon Cllr Paul Hamill.
