Civic reception proposed for club

SARSFIELDS could be in line for a civic reception following their Armagh Intermediate Championship victory.

At Monday's council meeting Sinn Fein's Johnny McGibbon passed on his congratulations and asked if council would consider a civic reception.

Loughside SDLP Councillor Mary McAlinden told how she had the pleasure of being with some of the members following the match. She congratulated the team on their fantastic achievement.

Deputy Mayor Kieran Corr commented: "It's long overdue that a north Armagh team has won a championship."

He passed on his congratulations to everyone at the club, in particular manager Patsy Donnelly who is a close friend.

He added: "It's the hub of the community in Derrytrasna and I'm sure there were big celebrations there last night."

Mr McGibbon's proposal was seconded and a decision is expected as to the level of civic reception in the coming weeks.
