A coffee morning and bring and buy sale is being held at Lisnisky Care Home tomorrow (Saturday) from 10am to raise funds for the residents’ comfort fund.
The fund not only provides equipment but helps pay for a range of activities enjoyed by residents.
These include baking, armchair aerobics, days out, arts and crafts, gardening, sewing and knitting and book clubs.
The activities are organised and run by the home’s personal activities leaders, Dorothy Watson and Lynsey Irwin.
Said Dorothy, “Yesterday we made pomanders, using some lavender I had brought back from holiday, and we are planning to get a butterfly house, where residents can watch the butterflies grow from caterpillars.”
One resident, Betty, who is blind, particularly enjoys the book club, at which stories are read aloud.
She said, “At the moment, we are reading a biography of Norman Wisdom. Another one I enjoyed was about a girl during the Blitz in London.”
Everyone is welcome at the sale and coffee morning.
