Called himself Chris de Burgh

A 28-year-old man who was shouting obscenities at police identified himself to them at one stage as Chris de Burgh, Craigavon Magistrates Court heard last Friday.

Nigel Mawhinney, Holly Hill, Dollingstown, was fined £150 for disorderly behaviour at Castle Lane on December 29 and ordered to pay a £15 offender’s levy.

The court heard that at 1.35am Mawhinney shouted ‘black b—ds’ at a police mobile patrol.

He continued to shout obscenities and refused to calm down, identifying himself as Chris de Burgh at one stage.

He continued to be abusive in the police station.

A barrister for 
Mawhinney said he was extremely intoxicated at the time.
