The DUP MP said her page was hacked this morning and soon after images of the ISIS flag appeared on her profile and cover photo.

Mrs Lockhart, who is a prolific user of social media, said she immediately contacted Facebook who are working to have it fixed.

The Upper Bann MP, who has been brutally trolled on social media, had a number of direct contacts on Facebook due to the troubles she has faced in the past.

“Facebook can be very hard to contact directly but I was lucky I have a couple of numbers to contact.

“Trying to get through to them can be a nightmare but they are working on it,” said Mrs Lockhart who added that Facebook has told her this does happen to political representatives from time to time.

“It feels like my right arm has been taken off,” said Carla who uses Facebook regularly.

She explained that her account was blocked within seconds and that people will still be able to contact her by telephone or at her office.
