Man arrested as part of Muckamore Abbey investigation

Police have confirmed that a man was arrested yesterday (Wednesday) as part of the investigation into allegations of ill-treatment of patients at Muckamore Abbey Hospital.

In a statement issued today (Thursday), a PSNI spokesperson said Detectives from the Police Service of Northern Ireland’s Public Protection Branch investigating the allegations of ill-treatment of patients at Muckamore Abbey Hospital arrested a 60-year-old male on Wednesday (June 14), in the Antrim area.

“He has been released from custody pending a report to the Public Prosecution Service (PPS).

“The investigation continues.”
