Phone scam warning
AN UPPER Bann MLA has asked people to be vigilant of telephone scams.
The SDLP’s Dolores Kelly said: “A number of my constituents have received telephone calls from people claiming to be calling from Microsoft, informing the customer that their computer is running slow. Please be warned that these are dodgy telephone calls, where scammers call you trying to obtain personal details over the phone.
“When the customer agrees, they are transferred to a new provider on the strength of a recording authorising the take up of the deal.”
Mrs Kelly added: “Be aware of this and do not agree to anything over the telephone.”
