A 54-year-old man was racially abusive to staff at a Portadown restaurant, Craigavon Magistrates Court heard last Friday.
Barry Dennis Allen, Dawson Green, Portadown, admitted a charge of disorderly behaviour at the Spice House in Thomas Street on March 25 this year.
Before outlining the facts a public prosecutor said the offence was racially motivated.
She explained that Allen was racially abusive to staff after a dispute over an order and he was requested to leave.
A 999 call was made and during the call police could hear the defendant giving verbal abuse using obscene language and saying something like you think ‘you own this country’.
District Judge, Mr Mervyn Bates, said there had been a gap in the defendant’s offending but the offence was aggravated by hostility. He adjourned the case until November 13 so that a pre-sentence report could be obtained.
