Tullylagan Pipe Band pick up European title

TULLYLAGAN Pipe Band have taken home the top title from the European Pipe Band Championships.

The local band put on a winning performance in he grounds of Stormont on Saturday, July 28th to become European champions. Ballybreist Pipe Band also did well, coming runners-up in their grade.

Congratulating both bands on their success Cookstown Councillor Trevor Wilson said: “Well done to Tullylagan Pipe Band members on thewir European success. Ballybreist also have to be congratulated on coming runners-up in their grade.

“I would like to wish them all the best for the World Championships.”

Mid-Ulster MLA Ian McCrea echose Councillor Wilson’s remarks.

He said: “It was only a month ago that I was congratulating Tullylagan Pipe band on having won Grade 4A in the British Pipe Band Championship and I am delighted again to congratulate them on another victory at the European Championships.

“The recent success of the band is to be highly praised and not only did they secure the Grade 4A title but Tullylagan Drum Major, Beth Preston also took the Junior Grade award also.”

“Winning is becoming a habit at Tullylagan Pipe Band and it is a habit I trust will continue with many more titles coming their way.”
