Diamond Jubilee celebrations for city
Lisburn City Council’s Diamond Jubilee programme of celebrations will take place over the Bank Holiday weekend, on Saturday June 2 and Monday June 4. Saturday’s event will take place at Hillsborough Fort, with music from the band of the Royal Irish Regiment and 1st (NI) Battalion Army Cadet Force Corps of Drums, a 21-gun Royal Salute, a parachute display and Flypast.
There will be limited tickets available to members of the public to attend and details will be made available via the Council’s website and through the local press.

Hide AdThe Council will also host a reception in the grounds of Hillsborough Castle. Guests have been invited from across the community and from the voluntary, sporting, youth, education and charitable backgrounds to join with elected members.
Lisburn City Council’s celebrations also include beacon lightings and fireworks displays at Lisburn City’s Wallace Park and at Hillsborough on Monday June 4. Wallace Park will see Flash Harry, the Queen tribute act, take to the stage for a concert on Monday evening and this event is expected to be very popular. A beacon lighting will then take place at 10pm which will be followed by a fireworks display. Exact times on the event will be made available shortly.
There will also be a beacon lighting and fireworks display in Hillsborough at the Downshire Monument at 10pm on Monday June 4. All members of the public are very welcome.
The Chairman of the Corporate Services Committee, Councillor Stephen Martin, said: “We have tried to put a popular programme on over the Bank Holiday weekend in June to celebrate the Diamond Jubilee. We will be getting more information out to our residents on Saturday’s event in Hillsborough and further details about the Concert, which we hope will be very popular.”
