While travelling a short distance to the home of a relative a 22-year-old man did not put a seat belt on a young child.
Seamus Maughan, Lakeview Court, Craigavon, was fined £100 last Wednesday at Craigavon Magistrates Court for allowing a child under the age of 14 to travel without a proper restraint.
He was also given three penalty points and ordered to pay a £15 offender’s levy.
The court heard that on October 4 last year at 8.30pm in Lakeview Park police saw a two-year-old child in a van with no booster seat or restraints.
They spoke to the defendant and cautioned him for the offence.
Mr Pat Vernon, representing the defendant, said Maughan was just going from one house to another which was in close vicinity.
He explained that it was the home a relative and the defendant jumped into the van and put the child between two adults before driving a short distance in the same estate.
