Do more than tread water

Newtownabbey Borough Council has just launched an exciting new programme which will be delivered by Full Circle Management Solutions.

The Small Firms Development Programme aims to assist owner-managers of small businesses in the area to survive, consolidate and grow - despite the adverse economic conditions.

Announcing the start of the recruitment phase of the programme, Simon Devlin of Full Circle declared: “We are looking for owner-managers of businesses in the Newtownabbey Borough Council area who want to do more than tread water. We want to recruit people onto this programme who are committed to winning new business, managing costs and boosting profitability.”

Participants on the programme will benefit from a series of practical skills development workshops and from tailored mentoring support where each business will be allocated a highly experienced mentor who will work with the owner-manager to build on existing strengths, address weaknesses and exploit opportunities arising.

The new programme highlights the ongoing commitment of Newtownabbey Borough Council to support the small business economy in the region.

Nadean Lowe of Newtownabbey Borough Council explained: “We are actively seeking to help our small businesses, especially in the current economic climate. The programmes that the council funds are all about generating commercial results and we are delighted to see this programme run from September 2012.”

The Small Firms Development Programme, which is part-funded by the European Regional Development Fund under the Sustainable Competitiveness Programme for Northern Ireland 2007 - 2013, is now open for applications.
