Dobson set to step down from Council

ULSTER Unionist MLA Jo-Anne Dobson is to stand down from her council seat before Christmas, it has been revealed.

Cllr Dobson, who represents the Lurgan ward, pledged before the elections in May to give up her council seat if elected to Stormont.

This week she told the ‘MAIL’ that she hopes that the UUP will co-opt a replacement before Christmas.

So far, there are four candidates campaigning to take the position; Colin McCusker, Robert Oliver, Andrew Crocket and Mark Woods.

The local UUP branch will vote on who takes the position later this month.

“It’s great that there is so much interest in the seat,” said Cllr Dobson.
