Upper Bann MLA Jo-Anne Dobson is teaming up with leading charity Positive Futures to provide information and advice for carers of people with a learning disability, acquired brain injury and autistic spectrum condition in the area.

She is hosting an event at the Old Town Hall, Banbridge, on April 3. The chief eecutive of Positive Futures, Agnes Lunny, will also be there, together with carers of people supported by the charity. The workshop will also be attended by a representative from Supporting People, NI Housing Executive.

Mrs Dobson said, “We know that carers do a huge unpaid job without complaint and that they shoulder a burden that would otherwise have to be borne by our Health Service. But it can be a very lonely existence. This is an opportunity to obtain advice and to see what support could be made available in the Upper Bann area.”

Agnes Lunny said: “There is hope, whatever your particular situation. Often, it’s just a matter of knowing where to look. We can provide that information on 3 April.”

The workshop starts at 11am and continues until 2pm.
