Doggie day in park

LURGAN is famous for Master McGrath and as part of the Lurgan 400 birthday celebrations - dogs are also playing their part.

Lurgan Park is hosting a dog awareness day for all pooch owners and their faithful canine companions this Saturday as well as all the other activities ongoing within the town centre.

Organised by Craigavon Borough Council in partnership with Dogs Trust, dog owners will have the opportunity to enrol their pet in the doggie dash race - the fastest dog over a certain distance, temptation alley - where the dogs walk past goodies without giving in to temptation and an agility course.

There is also a cutest dog competition with a number of prizes and goodie bags up for grabs.

Taking place from 2pm–4pm, Lurgan Park staff and Rangers will be on hand throughout the afternoon to issue advice and guidance to local residents on how to handle their dog correctly, keep it under control in public places and the hazard of dog fouling.

They will also be giving out information on council policy regarding dogs and the law and stray dogs.

The event has been sponsored by Moutrays Pet stop and Jollyes Pet Store, Lurgan.
