A Portadown man who was just over the drink drive limit was banned from driving for 12 months last Wednesday at Craigavon Magistrates Court.
Paul Forsythe (43), Manderley Park, Portadown, was fined £175 for driving with excess alcohol on August 31 last year.
He was also ordered to pay a £15 offender’s levy and if he completes a probation course for drink driving his ban would be reduced by three months.
The court heard he was seen at 1.50am in Bridge Street, Portadown, going through a red light traffic signal.
He was stopped on the Carrickblacker Road and failed an initial breath test. An evidential test gave a reading of 47 and a blood test was taken which gave a reading of 83 – three over the limit.
A barrister for the defendant said he had been at his sister’s house and had some alcohol from 5pm until 10pm while watching football.
He added that the defendant was just over the limit but knew he was taking a risk.
