A 29-year-old man was banned from the roads for 12 months last Friday at Craigavon Magistrates Court for driving with excess alcohol on April 19 this year.
Robert Varga, The Fairways, Portadown, was also fined £150 for the offence and ordered to pay a £15 offender’s levy.
If he completes a probation course for drink driving the ban will be reduced to nine months.
Varga was also fined £200 and banned for three months for driving without insurance.
The court heard that at 3am he drove to McDonald’s in Meadow Lane, Portadown, and police saw him get into the vehicle.
An evidential test gave a reading of 61 and he did not have insurance.
Mr Gabriel Ingram, representing the defendant, said his client had bought the car and the insurance was so high he could not afford it.
He added that his client had been drinking in the house and didn’t realise he was intoxicated as he was.
