A young man was so intoxicated police had to wait nine hours until they were able to charge him, Craigavon Magistrates Court heard last Wednesday.
Emmett Byrne (19) of Ardowen, was fined £150 for being simple drunk on November 21.
The court heard that at 2.25pm police received a report of a male trying to walk in front of traffic at Eastway.
They located the defendant and another male who ran off. Byrne had to be helped up a steep embankment.
He looked to be under the influence of drink and/or drugs. His speech was slurred and there was foam coming from the side of his mouth.
The defendant became very animated and made various comments to police. He tried to walk off and said further profanities.
Byrne was so intoxicated he was not fit to be charged until nine hours later.
Mr Peter Murphy, representing the defendant, said Byrne had no recollection of what happened.
He added that the defendant knows he needs help with alcohol and had managed to stay off drink for the last month.
