Explosion: Section of Skeoge Road closed as police carry out daylight checks
Police are currently at the scene of what is believed to have been an explosion on Skeoge Road in Londonderry overnight.
Chief Inspector Tony Callaghan said: “Reports of a loud bang were received at about 11.45pm last night. Officers attended the area and it appeared something inside a bin had exploded.
“Further daylight checks of the area are now being conducted.
“The Skeoge Road is closed between the Glengalliagh roundabout and the Buncrana Road. Members of the public should avoid the area.”
