Farmer fined £3,000 at court

A County Londonderry farmer was fined £3,000 at Londonderry Magistrates Court on Friday on a charge of failing to follow procedure with regard to the death of seven cattle.

Alan McNeely, of Clampernow Road, Newbuildings, admitted a charged with failing to notify the deaths of seven bovine animals, as well as a charge of failure to present a herd register and a further charge of failure to produce medicine records. The case arose from discrepancies found at a cattle identification inspection.

The inspection was carried out by Veterinary Service Enforcement Branch.

In addition to the fine the defendant was ordered to pay a £15 offenders’ levy.
