Faughan Valley clean-up call

EDUCATION chiefs have been urged to cut the grass at the former Faughan Valley High School site in Drumahoe.

Councillor Mary Hamilton has called upon the Western Education and Library Board to tidy up the site, saying she has been contacted by concerned residents complaining about the state of the grounds.

Councillor Hamilton said: "I would like the WELB to maintain these grounds until the buildings are sold, they are becoming very unsightly and do nothing to keep up the appearance of this beautiful area of the Faughan Valley. The school and grounds have been left vacant for too long and I hope that we soon have a resolution to the disposal of this property. Until then I believe the WELB should maintain this site in keeping with the area."
