St Paul’s Parish in Gilford will be holding a First World War exhibition on Saturday, November 7 as part of their contribution to the Church of Ireland Outreach Mission.
The event will be hosted by local Portadown man Ashley Forbes, an enthusiastic collector of World War memorabilia and member of the Ancre Somme Association.
Ashley, who recently gave a lecture on behalf of Banbridge District Council in the Iveagh Movie Studio alongside Dr Eamon Phoenix, discussing the history of postcards of the Home Rule Crisis and the First World War, will be giving a short history talk beginning at 12pm.
Many of these postcards will be on display, along with various other artefacts, and guests are encouraged to bring along any World War items for free appraisal /valuation.
St Paul’s would encourage anyone and everyone to come along to the event, to learn more about the First World War and enjoy the numerous artefacts on display as well as a cup of tea in friendly company.
Admission is free and refreshments will be served. The event will run from 10am-4pm.
