The group behind the flags protocol in Portadown has said it does not envisage any changes to the arrangement for the flying of flags in Kernan this year.
However, Regenerate says it remains committed to looking at genuine issues positively and says the protocol “is being adhered to and showing the benefits hoped for”.
Last week, an employee of Craigavon Hospital contacted the Times to say the flags at Craigavon Hospital roundabout should be removed as it is a “neutral venue”.
A Regenerate spokesman said it had made contact through the protocol with those who put the flags up in Kernan, but without direct contact with the complainant was unable to take further action.
He added, “ We have not had any contact from the complainant, and as such have not had the opportunity to sit down and discuss the issue, explore what is deemed unacceptable and to find a reasonable accommodation, if there is any.
“Without such contact, it is impossible to engage in dialogue and assess whether the complaint is sincere and bona fide.”
He added, “It is clear that the group in Kernan have engaged in dialogue on the flags issue for several years now and locations where they are now flown were previously agreed to.
“We are happy with the input and commitment of all concerned and will continue to support where possible.”
