Tandragee Junior High School’s new principal Wayne Brown has taken up his post following the retirement of David Gillespie.

A former pupil of Portadown College, Mr Brown was a member of staff at Markethill High School from 1998 until 2013. He was head of the Religious Studies Department, taught English, acted as vice-principal (pastoral) and was a senior teacher before moving to the post of vice-principal pastoral in Cookstown High School.

Prior to joining Markethill High school Mr Brown taught music on a job-share basis at Tandragee Junior High School in 1997.

Mr Brown has a Master’s degree in Education as well as the Professional Qualification for Headship and was also seconded to work for CCEA.

He said, “As a former pupil of the Dickson Plan I feel privileged to be experiencing it now as a principal. This is a school with a great reputation across the local and wider community.

“The provision of the school has been praised by the inspectors and is a positive reflection of the strong leadership provided by Mr Gillespie.”

Mr Brown said he is looking forward to working with a dedicated team of teaching and non-teaching staff.

He is married to Helen and they have two children, Jane and Uel.
