The funeral takes place tomorrow (Thursday) of popular local driving instructor Brian McConville.

The local community has been in shock after learning of Mr McConville’s sudden passing at the weekend.

Mr McConville was renowned in the Lurgan and Craigavon area as a talented and patient driving instructor.

The Magheralin native died suddenly on Sunday morning aged just 49 years old.

A former pupil of St Paul’s High School, Lurgan, Mr McConville had lived in the Craigavon area for many years and was regarded as a happy-go-lucky smiling instructor.

Though he had worked in Tescos for a couple of years, Brian returned to his love of driving and had a flourishing business. A testament of his success were the dozens of drivers who paid tribute to him on his Facebook page having been taught by him.

Brian was always smiling and loved a good laugh. He was regarded as a close friend by many and was often a patient and caring shoulder to cry on.

Brian, who is the son of Margaret and the late Tommy, is survived by his sons Christopher, Michael, Ciaran, Michael and Daire.

He is also mourned by loving partner Amy Blair and his brothers and sisters David, Paul, Eithne (McGuigan), Tom, Larry, Jerome (Dick), Betty (Murphy), Angela, Peadar, Liam and Michael.

His funeral is from his mother’s home, 48 Oakdene Park, Bleary, on Thursday at 9.45am to St. Peter’s Church, Lurgan for 10.30am Requiem Mass. Burial afterwards in St. Colman’s cemetery.
