When he was drunk a Portadown man approached a police vehicle and gave a two fingered gesture, Craigavon Magistrates Court heard last Friday.

Ashley Simon Gibson, Crawford Park, Portadown, was sentenced to two months in prison for disorderly behaviour on February 21 last year.

Gibson appeared in court by way of videolink from Maghaberry prison where he is serving a sentence.

The court heard that shortly before 9pm on the Armagh Road, Portadown, Gibson approached a police vehicle.

The defendant, who appeared intoxicated, started shouting and gave police a two fingered gesture.

He was warned about his behaviour but began to swear. There were members of the public in the area at the time.

A barrister representing Gibson said he had a drink problem and this has led to his record of offending. He was currently serving a sentence.

Gibson waived his right to a pre-sentence report.
