Good turnout for first night of guild’s new season

There was an excellent turnout for Glengormley Townswomen’s Guild’s first meeting of the new season.

The guest speaker on the night waas Eileen Bell, CBE, former speaker of the Northern Ireland Assembly and also a vice-president of the National Federation of Townswomen.

Eileen gave a very interesting presentation of her life and how she became involved in local politics and also included some funny anecdotes about her time in Stormont.

Last Saturday, 19 members joined with 24 other members from NI guilds and had afternoon tea at The Secret Garden, Dundonald. This was an excellent event organised by the NI chairman, Mrs. Kay Simpson.

The next meeting is on Tuesday, October 21 at 8pm in Glengormley Presbyterian Church hall, when there will be a jewellery demonstration by Clare McDonnell. New members are welcomed.
