The dance competition will take place in the Armagh City Hotel on Saturday, November 26 and will see 10 couples take to the stage to showcase their dance moves to country music to help raise vital funds for the hospice.

Strictly Goes Country, which will follow a similar format to Strictly Come Dancing, will see the participating couples jiving, line-dancing and doing the huckle-buck amongst many more dances to impress the judging panel and the audience to win their votes and, ultimately, the show.

No previous dancing experience is necessary. Full training will be provided by fully certified dance teacher Turlough O’Neill who is supporting the event. Participants don’t need to have a partner to sign up as the couples will be randomly selected when all the dancers have been recruited.

Danielle Doherty, fundraising assistant for Southern Area Hospice Services, encouraged people to come forward. She said,“I would encourage people to sign up as this is sure to be a fantastic experience for all our dancers – not only will they get the chance to learn new skills and meet new people, they will also be raising vital funds for Southern Area Hospice Services.

“Southern Area Hospice Services is a local charity which provides care free of charge to people who are living with cancer and other life-limiting illnesses, such as multiple sclerosis and motor neurone disease.

“To help us to continue to provide the level of care currently available, the hospice fundraising department has to raise £2.42 million in 2016 alone. Events such as Strictly Goes Country are very important as we work towards this target and I would encourage as many people as possible to support it.”
