The nature reserve, close to the Tandragee Road, is known as the best place to see dragonflies in Northern Ireland.

The diversity of the habitat also makes it home to a number of other species including otters, visiting waterfowl during the winter and other animal species.

The funding will allow the council to restore the nature conservation value of Brackagh Moss by managing the habitat for native plants and wildlife. Additionally, such funding will allow for water movement to be controlled through the site.

The money was made available through the DoE Environmental Fund.

DUP MLA Sydney Anderson said, “Ultimately, enhancing public access to the site will allow many more people to enjoy the opportunity of seeing such wildlife in their natural environment.”

Cllr Jonathan Buckley added: “When the improvement works are finished I am aware that the council hopes to hold further events at Brackagh Moss.”
