All things horticultural were the focus of the January meeting of Drumcree Women’s Institute.
David Johnston from The Horticulture and Plant Breeding Station, Manor House, Loughgall, was the guest speaker and gave an insight into the work that takes place there, including apple growing and research.
He also gave members a tour of his own garden giving tips on how to landscape gardens and make them easy to manage. David finished by talking about the charity close to his heart - Fields of Life.
Jean Clarke gave David a donation for his charity. The competition for a winter flower arrangement in a jam jar was won by Phyllis Harrison. Phyllis was also the birthday girl. The supper prize was won by Marie McReynolds.
