Even though he had no licence or insurance a 30-year-old took his wife’s car and was detected driving in Portadown.

Edgars Purvens, Beechcote Avenue, was banned from driving for six months last Wednesday at Craigavon Magistrates Court for not having insurance on June 17 this year.

He was also fined £200 and ordered to pay a £15 offender’s levy. For not having a licence he was fined £50 and a £100 fine was imposed for taking a vehicle without the consent of the owner. The court heard he was stopped at 2pm while driving in Meadow Lane, Portadown, and police asked him for his driving documents.

Purvens admitted to them that the vehicle belonged to his wife and he did not have a valid licence or insurance to drive the car.
