Killicomaine man Scott McClatchey is set to ‘brave the shave’ as he has his head shaved in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support today (Friday).
The volunteer youth worker is supporting a coffee morning being held at the same time in the Regenerate community cafe in Ardress Park, Rectory estate.
It is being hosted by a number of women who attend the cafe, with support from Regenerate, and will take place between 10-12.
Scott, a volunteer with Fuse Youth, said he had been inspired to support the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning as cancer had affected a number of his relatives.
He said, “I lost my uncle three or four weeks ago to cancer and my aunt is ill at the moment. And the mum of one of my mates passed away from cancer too.”
Keith McCann of Regenerate said, “This event is a reflection of the true heart of community spirit - so many willing to work together for a fantastic cause.
“Scott is an exceptional young person, giving so much back to community as a voluntary youth worker. He is very popular and a positive role model to the youth he works with.”
