More than 70 patients, carers and health professionals enjoyed an educational event hosted by the National Osteoporosis Society in Portadown.
Osteoporosis is the fragile bone disease that causes painful, debilitating and sometimes fatal fractures, particularly of the wrist, hip and spine.
Guests of the event, which took place on October 19 at the Seagoe Hotel in Portadown, enjoyed presentations on osteoporosis, nutrition and diet for strong bones and osteoporosis and exercise by experts in the field.
Edel Rogan, the charity’s development manager for the region, said: “This event offered patients, carers and health professionals the opportunity to hear Dr Damian Gormley, Consultant Geriatrician for the Southern Health and Social Care Trust, give a comprehensive overview of osteoporosis.”
Another educational event is planned in Northern Ireland on November 24 in Derry/ Londonderry. For information on how to book contact Edel on 0751557478
