The new super council is to roll out £1 swims for Under 18s at all local swimming pools for the duration of the summer.
Lurgan’s Waves, Brownlow and Cascades in Portadown - as well as Armagh pool - will all be charging just £1 for a swim following in the footsteps of Banbridge.
DUP Councillor Carla Lockhart said: “Recognising the need for synchronisation of our facilities and equality for our rate payers, I made the proposal that £1 swims be rolled out in all of our facilities namely, Waves, Cascades, Craigavon, and Armagh to mirror that of Banbridge’s offer. £1 swims for our rate payers make swimming an affordable option for our rate payers. It is vital that those in Craigavon and Armagh can benefit in the same way to those in Banbridge. We are going through a period of transition and the harmonisation of services is vital, therefore I believe this will send out a good message that the Council is united.”
A Council spokesperson said: “From 1-31 August, under 18s can avail of £1 swims in Waves, Cascades, Craigavon and Orchard Leisure Centres during public swim times.”
