Heart charity names Philip a Heart Hero

A MAN involved in the opening of the British Heart Foundation (BHF) shop in Lisburn has been recognised with a Heart Hero Award at the charity’s annual meeting.

Philip Trimble was chosen as volunteer of the year because of the amazing extra work he has done for BHF Northern Ireland Shops in Belfast, Lisburn, Portadown, Newry and Ballymena.

Philip played a central role in the opening of both the new Lisburn and Belfast Shops this year.

Speaking at the time, Philip said: “I am thrilled to have been given such a prestigious title as there are so many worthy volunteers throughout our 11 Northern Ireland Shops. I find volunteering in our BHF Northern Ireland shops very rewarding.

“I’ve been volunteering from 2011 and over the past year I’ve seen how BHF Northern Ireland is helping so many local hearts to keep beating and it is because of the charity’s local work that I give up my time to help such a worthwhile cause.”

BHF Northern Ireland Director Marjory Burns said: “Philip deserves this accolade for his commitment and energy in helping the charity fight heart disease. It is due to the hard work and fantastic support of volunteers like Philip that help us continue our life-saving work in Northern Ireland.”
