'Joke' ticket gives pensioner a shock

A local pensioner got quite a shock when he went out to his car last week.

Correctly parked in his village and with no reason to think he was obstructing anything or anyone, the man saw what appeared to be a parking ticket on his vehicle.

Tucked underneath his windscreen wiper, the ticket simply said: ‘Penalty Charge Notice’ and below that said ‘Do Not Ignore’.

The man admitted to being confused and asked neighbours what he should do.

It was obviously a ruse and while the notice appears to have something of an authentic look about it at a quick glance, closer examination reveals it is nothing more than a made up piece of paper designed to give someone a shock.

The Times understands that these tickets were being sold at the Oul Lammas Fair and that they have since been put on cars for a laugh.

However, it was no laughing matter in the early stages for the pensioner.
