Joymount Church history author at Carrick Rotary Club

The history of Joymount Church was the theme for a recent talk for Carrickfergus Rotarians.

President Brenda Houston welcomed Rev. Derek Weir as guest speaker at the club.

Rev Weir is the author of a history of Joymount Presbyterian Church published in 2014 and entitled ‘The Church Outside the Walls’.

In a statement Carrickfergus Rotary Club noted: “In a wide-ranging and engaging talk, he set the history of the development of Joymount in the wider context of the history and development of Carrickfergus and the development of Presbyterianism in Ireland.

“On this occasion a number of visitors joined club members to hear and appreciate Rev Weir’s wide ranging and comprehensive insight into his subject.”
